Zachariah Richardson Born: 22 May 1748 Died: October 1829 Rank: Private Great-great-great-great-grandfather of Tom Searles
I know little about this person other than there is a Daughters of the American Revolution certificate for him, and that he served in the New Hampshire militia during the Revolutionary War.
His son, Thomas Richardson, married Ruth, the daughter of John Vance Smith. The fathers of Thomas and Ruth Richardson (my great-great-great-grandparents) both fought in the Revolutionary War.
Zachariah’s father was Captain Robert Richardson, his grandfather was Lieutenant Josiah Richardson, and his great-grandfather was Captain Josiah Richardson. All of these men served in the county militias where they lived in Massachusetts.
(Prior to the Revolutionary War, the colonists imitated the British militia organization—a citizen army. They copied British militia operations, used British training manuals, and used British officers to drill their troops.) |
